30 days
Well friends, it’s been 30 days since I cut the cord. And now that I’ve given it a try, I’m going back to cable.
No, just kidding I’m not. But I am going to tell you…
10 Things I’ve Done in the 30 Days Since I Cut the Cord
- Read more: Finished “The Women” and currently in the midst of “Devil in the White City.” After that I’ll tackle Tim Wu’s “The Master Switch.”
- Discovered new ways to watch TV: ivi.tv and Netflix! Combined are only $14 a month.
- Worked a lot more. Saving the Internet is no easy task, you know. And since cutting the cord this, this and this happened. (If you like what we do, or you just really like me, consider donating here, and make sure you choose my name in the drop down.)
- Cooked. I’ve made chili, butternut squash curry, and christened the new Crock Pot with a batch of chicken tacos (see below). Life is better/healthier when you cook more and eat out less.
- Started packing my lunch at night. In following #4, I’ve taken initiative to plan meals and eaten better. Spinach salads with vinaigrette for lunch, wasa and hummus for snacks. And doing it at night saves me time in the morning.
- Joined a gym. Gold’s in midtown DC. I used to be a member when I was at FSU, and I used to run 4 miles a day. I want to look like this. :)
- Relapsed. Twice. Went to dogsit for a friend for a weekend and soaked up all the HBO OnDemand that I could. Then went home for Thanksgiving and watched a marathon of Boardwalk Empire and many, many useless shows.
- Cleaned out my closet and donated a bunch of clothes to Goodwill.
- Started this blog. Gave my mother a heart attack because she thought cordcutting meant I didn’t need her in my life anymore.
- Watched the Seminoles crush the Gators in Doak Campbell Stadium, ending a 6 game losing streak.
